We gather around the Right to Repair
Today many devices are deliberately designed to “expire” faster than necessary, a practice known as planned obsolescence.
A recent example is Microsoft’s decision to end support for Windows 10, pushing millions of people toward replacing fully functional computers.
Repair Cafés exist to interrupt this pattern.
We repair instead of replace, extend the life of our devices, reduce e-waste, save money, and build a culture of technological independence.
What we aim to do
- Offer hands-on support to repair small devices (bring something to fix!)
- Show that repair is possible, empowering, and fun
- Connect people who practice and care about repair
- Introduce newcomers to the Free/Libre & Open Source Software (FLOSS) ecosystem
- Help anyone who wants to install Linux on an old computer
- Strengthen public understanding of digital rights, privacy, and healthy tech use
- Start a conversation on screen-free childhood and family digital well-being
