Part of the nomadic Repair Café Cyprus series, FEED4FOOD, and the Next Generation Internet Zero Program for the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union
Where: Acropolis Park – Strovolos Living Lab & the Caves
When: Saturday 14 March, 10:00 – late
There are moments when different communities of care seem ready to meet: Soil work. Repair. Open software. Questions about children and smartphones. Philosophy at dusk. On 14 March, we are opening space for these threads to cross. This is a day with a structure, but not a finished script. It will take shape with those who come.
🌱 Morning: Replanting the Living Lab
10:00 – 12:30 – We begin in the garden. Replanting. Soil care. Native varieties. Water awareness.
The Living Lab forms part of the FEED4FOOD project, which explores how urban food systems can become more resilient and socially grounded . On this day, that simply means learning together by working with the land. Growers, educators, children, first-timers, all welcome.
🧺 13:00 Picnic Lunch
Bring something simple to share. Local and low-waste are appreciated. Presence is enough.
🔧 15:00 – 17:30 Repair Café in the Caves
The travelling Repair Café series visits Strovolos this month. Bring: Small appliances, tools, clothing to mend, electronics, something you thought was finished. Repair shifts how we relate to the material world. It slows disposal. It keeps knowledge circulating. Children will have space to explore through careful disassembly and simple repair attempts, learning how things function by opening them.
**Parallel moments**
🥏 15:00 Frisbee with the Nicosia Ultimate group
♟️ 16:30 Chess with FIDE Master Nils R. Grotnes
🎤 16:00 Short Contributions
16:00 – On stepping away from Microsoft and Google, and what installing Linux means in practice.
16:30 – Smartphone Free Childhood Cyprus (TBC)
If you work on digital autonomy, open infrastructures, right to repair, or the developmental conditions of childhood in a digital environment, you are welcome to propose a short intervention.
🌀 18:00 Philosophy Circle: Re-enchanting the World
“Those who love peace must learn to organise as effectively as those who love war.”
We will sit together and think aloud: What kinds of organisation allow care to endure? How do ecological and digital responsibility intersect? What forms of coordination strengthen communities rather than hollow them out?
Open circle. No panel.
Inspired by the work of Silvia Federici and Martin Luther King Jr,
